Year 9 Boys football
Isca Academy (2) vs (2) West Exe School
The Year 9 boys football team had their first game of the year last Thursday; this was an away game vs a very strong West Exe side who beat us 9-1 last year. It is fair to say that all the boys went into this game knowing it was going to be a fast paced and physical game.
West Exe started off with the majority of the possession, but the Isca boys battled hard and kept it tight at the back. Isca took the lead midway through the 1st half with a flawless through ball from Szymon to put Marley in to a 1v1 against the West Exe goalkeeper which he finished with great composure. West Exe then managed to equalize with just 60 seconds left in the first half. We went into half time 1-1.
Both teams started off strong in the second half, but the Isca boys kept up the high intensity, this led to the West Exe defence panicking and conceding a free kick 25 yards away from the goal. Charlie T stepped up with confidence and hit a beautiful strike over the wall and into the top left corner of the goal. The score is now 2-1 to Isca. With 5 minutes remaining West Exe managed to get the equaliser for the second time in the game through a scrappy battle in the box.
The game ended 2-2, with the Year 9 boys giving it everything they had right up to the final minute. All of the boys put in Man of the Match performances on the day, but the team all voted that the first Man of the Match of this year goes to Marley.
