Isca Academy, Exeter like all schools have put extensive measures in place to mitigate against the risk of COVID transmission and have been exercising the continued practice over the recent months.

We are really grateful that so many of our students and community are regularly testing using home Lateral Flow Tests.

Following a positive case in Year 8 last week we were made aware of a further 9 cases this Sunday and working with Department of Education (DFE) took the decision to close the Year 8 bubble. After extensive track and trace procedures were put in place including a thorough risk assessment with Public Health England (PHE). PHE have confirmed that the action taken so far has been decisive and robust and that we have taken all of the necessary action with the information that we have.

Families of those children who need to self-isolate have been informed and remaining staff, parents and carers of other year groups have also been notified of the situation.

For those children who are required to self-isolate we have switched to home learning methods through our remote curriculum plan to ensure they are able to continue their learning by using all resources available, and to support parent/carers and pupils during this time.

The health, safety and wellbeing of all of our staff and young people is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the situation working closely with Public Health England.

We are extremely grateful of the support we have received from our school and wider community in support of and following the COVID measures we have in place and look forward to welcoming students back next week.
