Curriculum Statement of Intent
The curriculum is much more than just lessons. It includes the ethos, attitudes and relationships which create the family life of our school. Our aim is to provide a broad, balanced and rigorous curriculum that meets the needs and aspirations of every young person and leaves them well prepared for their future.
Curriculum Statement of Intent – Dance
The Dance curriculum is designed to give students the best possible experiences in the Dance and Performing Arts industries. It explores choreographic and performance skills alongside evaluative and directive skills. Students will have chance to explore a wide variety of styles, genres and professional works within the classroom by performing, choreographing and appreciating them. The Dance curriculum also aims to develop students’ confidence, self-awareness and leadership skills therefore preparing them for life beyond Isca.
The curriculum intends to:
1) Develop student’s choreographic skills by introducing them to subject specific and high impact devices.
2) Equip students with the relevant skills and confidence to develop their performance skills by providing plenty of opportunity and challenge.
3) Explore professional works and inspire students.
4) Develop critical thinkers who are able to analyse their own and the work of others.
5) Develop learners who are aware of and understand the elements of the Performing Arts industry and are prepared for a career in the field.
