Year 9 Parents’ Evening

Our Year 9 parents’ evening was a huge success this week with scholars receiving incredible feedback from the teachers – keep up the work Year 9, we are really proud of you!

Ten Tors

We had our third weekend camp for Ten Tors training this weekend.  38 walkers took part, completing routes of 23, 28 or 33 miles in total across South Dartmoor.  Teams are beginning to come together nicely and all the walkers are demonstrating great strength, resilience and teamwork.  We camped near Haytor, and enjoyed a completely beautiful sunrise as teams all set off before 0730 on Sunday.  A big thank you to the wonderful team of staff who make these extraordinary opportunities happen for our young people.

What’s happening in…

Religious Education

On Monday’s RE Year 9 GCSE lesson we had Richard Venn, a street pastor from Taunton, talk to us about what his work involves and why he does it.

It was a fantastic visit, and all of the students really valued Richard’s time, whilst also learning a lot of what a street pastor does and how they help.

Performing Arts

Shrek rehearsals are gathering pace and we have added lots of props and costumes into the mix including a terrified bunny rabbit puppet, the moon on a stick and a life size deer which even somehow made its way into Mr Engineer’s office! Miss Bialyk has stepped in to help coach the singers and the scholars’ confidence is growing by the day. Look out for the tickets that will be going on sale soon.

Have a fabulous half term break, scholars – see you back at school on Monday 20th February.
