Student leadership is encouraged at Isca Academy as we believe it is important for students to play a part in the day-to-day running of their school. We have a thriving student leadership team and welcome applications from our Year 11 students to become a Head Student, or a Deputy Head Student. These students oversee our Student Executive Leadership Team, a group of volunteers who lead a whole-school themed project, covering themes such as student well-being and anti-bullying. They also represent Isca Academy at events and report to governors as required, and to the Headteacher.

Students in years 7 to 11 also have the opportunity to become members of our Student Council representing their tutor group at regular meetings to discuss student opinion on all aspects of school life, including teaching and learning, and mental health and wellbeing. We also have a student representative panel on all staff recruitment interviews who give great feedback and insight on candidates suitability to work at Isca Academy.

Student leaders in years 10 and 11 support new students in year 7 through our Buddy programme, meeting weekly to offer support, guidance and a big brother/sister role-model as they start their journey through secondary school.
