Year 8 Boys’ Football
Year 8 Boys travelled away to Clyst Vale on Wednesday night in what turned out to be goal’s galore for Isca! The game started very tight and physical with Clyst Vale on the upper foot, but with both teams creating early chances and Isca eventually breaking the deadlock. Some individual brilliance from Gustaw opened the scoring and from there on, the goals kept coming with Isca 3-0 up at half time!
After a very strong first half, Isca started bright in the second with strike partners Harry and Charlie linking up nicely. Our defence was solid throughout the game and Clyst Vale were struggling to break through, until they got lucky with a long ball over the top. They were through on goal and the shot rolling towards the goal line, the clean sheet was almost gone. However, out of nowhere Justin appeared and managed to dive and clear the ball off the line. The team celebrated as if they had scored, it was amazing to watch and brilliant defending from Justin! Goals continued to follow for Isca with some beautiful football being played. The final Score ended with Isca winning 10-0.
Goal scorers; Harry V: 4, Charlie O: 3, Gustaw B: 2, Alfie T: 1. Man of the match awarded to Aron D for an excellent display of defending.
Devon Cross Country (Saturday 21st)
We had 5 students running in the Devon cross country on Saturday all making great progress in very challenging and icy conditions. Well do to: Gustaw B, Jess C, Harry H, Cameron T, Thomas B.
Ten Tors Training
Our second weekend training for Ten Tors was a great success. We were presented with Dartmoor at its best: freezing cold, sunny, little wind and firm ground with lots of snow in places. Teams taking on the 35 mile challenge walked a total of 24 miles over two days. 45 milers walked 35 miles and 55 milers completed a 42 mile route. All the 35s reached camp by 8pm, with one team arriving before 4pm!
The 45s showed huge grit to reach camp at 9.30pm. The 55s camped separately, pitching up at about 8.30pm. The joys of wild camping on Dartmoor are hard to exaggerate, and we all enjoyed the experience of camping on snow, and the sunrise the following morning was spectacular. Everyone was up and out by 8am to do it all again on Sunday. Walkers should feel really proud of themselves as their organisation and physical and mental stamina improves. Distances will now increase with the daylight, and the remaining four weekends will see teams really form, ready for the event at the end of April.
