Welcome to this weeks edition of the Headteacher’s Blog where we round up all the events and celebrations that have been happening in the school this past week.
We truly believe that Isca students are the greatest and look forward to sharing all their amazing achievements with our community each week.

Year 11 Mock Examinations
Year 11 students have been showing great positive attitudes toward their mock exams this week. Well done to them all.
RE Visit to Hartridge Buddhist Monastery
On Wednesday Miss Roberts and Mr Tyldesley took some of the Year 10 GCSE RE students to Hartridge Buddhist Monastery. We took part in some Buddhist meditation and had the opportunity to ask questions to a Buddhist monk living in the monastery. It was a fantastic visit, all of the students were impeccably behaved and asked some incredibly insightful questions.
The SPARX Reader Leader Boards
Every week Year 7 and 8 students have the chance to achieve a place on the Sparx Reader Leader board. Each English class competes with the other classes in the year group for the most Sparx Reader submissions each week. There are prizes each term for the classes that are making the most progress!
This week it is 7yEn1 – Mrs Kara’s class, and 8yEn2 – Miss Lolin’s class, that are in pole position on the table. A special mention to 8yEn2 as their score was the highest of any group in Year 7 or 8 so far! Keep up the excellent Sparx Reader work!
Two Languages Proving Popular with Year 8 Students
Year 8 have had the opportunity to study two languages this term. We have been really impressed with the enthusiasm that they have shown for both French and the new language of Spanish. As we near the end of term they need to choose which language to continue with after Christmas. Their teacher will be talking to them about this in over the next week and guiding them in making their decision.
Performing Arts – Winter Whirligig Preparations
Students in the performing arts department are preparing to welcome an audience of family and friends to our Winter Whirligig on Tuesday 13th December at 7pm.
The evening will feature music from all year groups and a special sneak peak of Shrek which we’re really excited about!
Tickets for the Winter Whirligig are free but do need to be booked in advance and are available from reception.
Sports News
This week our Year 7 B team had their first fixture of the Year, travelling to Cranbrook school to play their A team. The match was played in a brilliant spirit with all players involved working hard throughout the duration of the game to eventually win 5-2. Congratulations to all students involved on your debut performance for Isca Academy. Tyler was excellent in goal, and in the outfield during the second half. Archie was outstanding and instrumental in scoring two goals and two assists. However, on this occasion, Liam was Man of the Match for his unselfish game play and excellent execution of the basic skills throughout the match. Well done Year 7!
Year 8 have also had some fantastic results recently winning their last two games with some spectacular goal scoring!
14-1 vs St James
