Year 8 Boys football
Isca Academy (1) vs (2) West Exe School
It was another away game this week to West Exe but this time for our Year 8 boys football team. This was the Year 8’s first game of the year and there was a real buzz amongst the team during the build-up to the game.
Isca started off strong and showed a lot of composure and confidence on the ball within the opening minutes of the game. Even after holding the majority of the possession for opening 10 minutes of the game, West Exe caught Isca on the counter and managed to go 1-0 up. The Isca boys didn’t let this knock their confidence and they carried on playing their football, the ball then fell to Ollie on his Isca debut who managed to lob the keeper from the edge of the box to equalise.
The second half was underway and once again Isca held most the possession, but West Exe kept fighting back and had several good chances on goal. One attempt was a sure thing to put West Exe 2-1 up, but our centre-half Anton managed a miraculous goal line save to keep the ball out. The intensity of the game kept rising within the final minutes of the game with both teams having a number of chances but unfortunately West Exe scored a 2nd from a corner which our captain Leo tried to save off the line (with his hand – taking one for the team) but the ball had just crossed the line before he could get there.
The game ended with Isca losing 2 – 1. It was a fantastic, fast paced game with a number of outstanding performances, but Man of the Match goes to Charlie for being relentless throughout the entire game
